Contact – Nzbettinglaw
The notes below say who publishes Nzbettinglaw, what the site is meant to do and how its pages on the law of betting are to be read.
Publisher
For the publisher’s name, legal form, postal address and e-mail address, bettinglawnz.com is the place. Those details exist so the site can be identified and so complaints or questions have an address.
Nature of the site
An information site on racing and sports betting law, nothing more. Bets are not accepted, no customer account is kept, no money is taken and no intermediary role between readers and bookmakers is played. A forecast promising a win is never carried.
The New Zealand position
Section 74AAA of the Racing Industry Act 2020 makes TAB NZ the only provider allowed to offer racing and sports betting to people in New Zealand, as it has been since 28 June 2025, through its online brands TAB and Betcha. The Department of Internal Affairs supervises compliance. Licences for other bookmakers do not exist, because none can be applied for. Betting with TAB NZ is limited to adults aged 18 and over.
Care with content and links
Every page is prepared with care and rechecked from time to time. Odds, markets and offer terms still change, so the provider’s current terms prevail, and Nzbettinglaw accepts no liability for decisions based on its text. The Fair Trading Act 1986 prohibits misleading conduct in trade, and the site is written with it in mind. Links to other sites were verified when they were added; the content they later hold is their owners’ responsibility, and a link to unlawful content is removed once reported.
Copyright
The Copyright Act 1994 protects texts, tables and graphics. Use beyond fair dealing requires the editors’ prior written consent.
Help with gambling harm
Gambling carries risk of harm. If excessive gambling is noticed in oneself or in someone close, the Gambling Helpline and Safer Gambling Aotearoa can be approached. TAB NZ describes its own tools (deposit limits, bet limits, self-exclusion) on its pages.
